Windows 7

The question on lots of people’s minds these days: Should I get Windows 7? If you want my opinion in one sentence, here it is: New computer, yes. Upgrade, no.

Sorry, that was two sentences.

Windows 7 looks just like Vista. It is a big improvement over Vista. In fact, Windows 7 is the very first Microsoft operating system that’s faster than its predecessor. So if you’re getting a new box, make sure it comes with Windows 7. Win7 is a good thing.

But, Windows 7 requires a lot of computer power and your Vista box may not have it. Your XP box certainly does not have it. So don’t even think about upgrading XP to 7. And the upgrade path from Vista to 7 is ugly. I am not exaggerating. You really don’t want to go that road.

So, again…Widows 7 comes on new computers. That’s good.
Don’t upgrade to Windows 7. That’s bad.

AVG

AVG has released version 9. If you have AVG 8.5 on your computer, you are probably aware of this.

Version 9 is an improvement on 8.5 in every respect. Get it.
