Don’t Fear the Keyboard
Sunday, January 21st, 2007The #1 stumbling block to people using a computer is TYPING! Until that fine day when we can plug our heads directly into the global net, we’re all stuck with learning how to type. Those of us “of a certain age” remember when people had secretaries to type for them. No more. Even the CEO has to type their e-mail.
Don’t fear the keyboard. It has only 102 keys which, when used with various combinations of SHIFT, CTRL, ALT, CMD, WINDOW, NUM LOCK⦠gives only 652,003 possible values.
On second thought, never mind.
Learning to type well requires practice. My sons have both used Mavis Bacon Teaches Typing and it’s really a fun program. Up to a point. After that point, you have to just use it and use it and use it.
How much longer are you planning to live? At least another year? Spend the time learning how to type better and you’ll make up the time lost to practice before a year is up.
