Windows 7 Does Not Have an Email Program in It

Lots of people do not know this. Lots of people do not understand what it means.

So let me explain.

In order to read your email, you have to run a program. There are many programs to do email: AOL, Eudora, IncrediMail, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Thunderbird…

The most popular email programs were “Outlook Express” and “Windows Mail.” OE came for free on Windows XP (and earlier) and WinMail is almost the same thing on Vista. These were free email programs that were part of Windows.

But Windows 7 does not come with an email program. This is Microsoft’s subtle way of pushing you to their “Windows Live Mail” so they can advertise on you. Or you have to buy a copy of “Outlook.”

But there are still many free email programs from sources other than Microsoft.

To know if you need one of these free programs, you have to know what email program you’re currently using.

Many people do not know what program they run to get their email. They just click on an icon or something and they get their email. If and when you get Windows 7, you will have to know what program you use to get your email.

To find out, look at the words at the very top of your screen when you are reading your email. The name of the program will be there.

If Windows 7 is in your future, find out what program you’re using to get your email and call me. There’s a good chance you will need something to replace what you’re currently using when you move to Win7.

If you’re not ready, your new Win7 machine will not have email.
